EPISODE 5

What Your Body is Trying to Tell You

Your body's been trying to tell you something for years, long before anything ever turned into a real problem.

In this episode, Asil talks about what it means to actually listen to your body instead of only paying attention once something breaks. He calls it your lifeline: the ability to notice what your body needs before it has to shout. This episode gets into why modern life makes that so hard, and offers a simple way to start tuning back in.

The Body That Carries You

Asil

This life, and for the entirety of this life, you will be carried by this body of yours. It is your primary vessel in this physical reality. Now, of course, there is so much more to you than just your body. Yet to navigate through this physical reality, your body needs to be operational and well. Many of us carry misalignment of the body, sicknesses, diseases, dormant viruses, accidents, scars of the past, injuries of various kinds, as well as genetic conditions that we have inherited.

Many of us carry potential influences of our environment on our wellbeing, societal aspects, environmental aspects that influence our wellbeing. Yet here we are living a life in which we are consistently required to operate and consistently required to be productive, to be delivering, and this body of ours carries us through life constantly.

When the Body Speaks the Loudest

Asil

And we suppress the occasional pain, we suppress the occasional discomfort, dis-ease, and we find ways to manage our pains. We find ways to navigate and to cope with the symptoms that emerge, up to a certain point, until the body is so loudly communicating to us that it will no longer move forward and operate, and it stops. It stops whatever you do.

It stops any commitments or obligations you have. Anything that has to get done, it does not matter any longer. The body speaks the loudest. When it does, it can put everything to a halt. Yet it is also the last resort for the body, as often we have not listened closely enough, or we have listened and we have not understood what the body is trying to tell us.

The Choices That Sustain the Body

Asil

Our minds, wired to give our attention to the next thing, to the future, to the goals, to the achievements, to the vision of what we are being told and what we are being sold, forgetting that in this very moment, this is the body that carries you forward, and without it, there is no future. In this moment, the true balance, the true alignment in the body supports a greater alignment of your entire being.

In this moment, the choices you make on how to fuel this body with food, with water, with rest,

with movement, define how this body will carry you forward. This body is designed to operate as best as it can without your interventions and without your need to constantly manage or service this body. Yet occasionally, it requires attention and it requires your support. Your choice to move, your choice to eat well, your choice not to eat, your choice to drink and what to drink and what not to drink.

Every Investment in Wellbeing Returns

Asil

Your choices have a major effect on this body of yours. The body reflects pretty much immediately, or for some of us, over time. Every investment into the body, into the wellbeing of your body, multiplies in the way it returns to you. You put in more time for rest, it will show. You put in more time for eating better, it will show.

You put in more time to sleeping more or higher-quality sleep, it will show. The body reflects. Now, with time, as our choices of the past have not always been ideal or well for our bodies, the accumulation of these misalignments creates constellations and really challenging circumstances for the body. We can get sick to a degree that the body

may give up completely.

Health Within a Misaligned Society

Asil

The proliferation of terminal sicknesses, illnesses, to some degree unknown, to some degree assumed. Yet proliferation of cancer, proliferation of unknown viruses, proliferation of infections, consistent inflammations, proliferation of toxins. It is to some degree fueled by society, and it is to some degree fueled by your choices within society.

How can you choose to live differently if the constructs of society are providing a certain way of living that in itself may already be misaligned? If the food that is available, that is affordable, is already poisoned, toxic, misaligned, then the body will respond. You will get sick, and so will many others.

So it is by our choices that we design what society then eventually provides as in what we need for our wellbeing.

Only You Can Know What Is Good for You

Asil

Yet constantly there are movements that challenge our wellbeing. Movements that optimize for productivity, movements that optimize for humans to do the most they can to fuel societal objectives not necessarily designed for your greatest wellbeing. So the only person that can truly understand and align to what is good for you is you.

Yet if the mind has not been attuned to listening to the body, to hearing what the body needs, then your lens is foggy. You will not know what your body needs and what is required for you to live a healthy, balanced, and aligned life. At which point you will refer to others, experts, so to say, to tell you how to live a life that is healthy, that focuses on your wellbeing.

Relearning How to Listen

Asil

And that may be a good path temporarily. Yet this bridge of your feeling, your sensation, your observation, your attunement to this vessel of yours is a critical bridge. It is your lifeline. It is what drives you to know what you need and when you need it. It drives you to make decisions preemptively, proactively, not when the body is screaming so loudly and threatening to end your operationality completely.

It's your ability to hear what is emergent within you in the most subtle ways, if necessary. And when do we hear the body? Well, it is in moments of deep silence that we hear the body. It is when we turn our attention from the outside world to the inside world. When we recognize that this body has information to share.

When we have cleaned the lenses through which we perceive ourselves and this body. When we recognize the food that we eat and the way it affects our wellbeing. When we recognize the amount of water we drink and the way it affects our wellbeing. When we recognize the way we use stimulants or substances and the ways they impact our wellbeing.

A Relationship of Reverence and Love

Asil

And eventually, and with time, with patience, you will find a well-balanced relationship with this physical being of yours by constantly listening, by constantly adjusting to its needs and to its communication with you.

It is ultimately a significant relationship in your life, this body of yours. And if it is the vessel that carries you through this life, and if its wellbeing is so critical to your wellbeing, to the way you feel, to the way you see, to the way you navigate through life, to the way you relate to others, wouldn't you give this vessel of yours the most beautiful, the most benevolent, the most well-chosen attention that you can?

Wouldn't you carry it with reverence and with love?

Wouldn't you fuel it with the best fuel that you can attain? Wouldn't you uncompromisingly give it all that you can to serve, so that it can continue to serve you? For you to feel strong, for you to feel well, for your emotions, for your internal balance to carry you through life in a balanced way.

The Invitation to Care for Your Body

Asil

This is the appeal for you to listen to this vessel of yours, to make wise choices on its behalf, to become more aware and attuned to the needs, to the requirements, and the consequences of actions taken on behalf of this body.
